Tutorial -> Who are we to be presenting a PFEP tutorial?

Ricardo Garza-Miranda is one of the leading experts in all aspects of Lean Manufacturing working today.  He is the expert to hire when you next the best.  Hopefully, Ricardo will publish a book or two on the subject.  Because Ricardo in such high demand, this website and tutorial is being developed by Steven Kovitz of Compuvision.

What qualifies Steven Kovitz to write this tutorial?

I, Steven Kovitz of Compuvison, have been making systems more efficient for more than thirty years now.  This includes five years working with the "Gods of Logistics", Donald J. Bowersox and David J. Closs, although our conversations at the time simply revolved around making things work better.  While they were (and still are) the experts in Supply Chain Management, my focus was on the computer software that enabled their systems.  Likewise, my six years working for Microsoft Corporation was focused on making Microsoft Office more usable, especially when it came to simplifying our customers most critical tasks.  As a result of the efforts of myself and the entire Microsoft Office team, Microsoft Office's market share grew from 10% in 1992 to 90% in 1998.  After that I continued to develop a number of other software projects, all of which were focused on paying for themselves by helping my customers work more efficiently.  Over the past five years, I have focused primarily on Lean Manufacturing systems and PFEP databases.  It's been a real natural fit, but not one that I had planned on.  As such, my perspective about what should go into a PFEP system has been heavliy influenced by Ricardo and the many clients that we have implemented systems like this for, as well as the incredibly innovative thinking of MTU Detroit Diesel's Senior Manager in charge of Organizational Excellence, Anshum Jain.
