Glossary -> Places -> Marketplace
A Marketplace is a temporary place to store Parts that are on their way from the Warehouse to their ultimate Point-of-Use. Generally speaking, your ERP system will consider Parts in a Marketplace to already be "in the Factory" for accounting purposes. Not every Lean Manufacturing system will utilize Marketplaces. Marketplaces are the most useful when your Warehouse is not under the same roof as your Factory and when you are trying to reduce the size of your WorkCenters.
